Welcome To Shaping Thurrock

This website is currently being updated due to the Shaping Thurrock Partnership agreeing new Governance Protocols and a new structure.

The updated information will be available on this website by the end of March 2010.

Shaping Thurrock is the Local Strategic Partnership for Thurrock. It has been established since 2002 and undertook a revitalisation of its partnership structure in 2005.

Shaping Thurrock aims to bring together the various organisations that make up the public, private, community, voluntary and faith sectors in Thurrock to improve the quality of life for local people. Its members include representatives from Thurrock Council, NHS South West Essex, Essex Police and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation.

Shaping Thurrock will work for the benefit of Thurrock's citizens and businesses and will shape the Thurrock vision - the Sustainable Community Strategy - and the key priorities to make it happen.

Some of the key responsibilities of Shaping Thurrock include:

  • Approving the Sustainable Community Strategy for Thurrock and being responsible for the review of progress on the strategic priorities and targets.
  • Achieving greater alignment between the corporate and business plans of partner organisations and the Sustainable Community Strategy.
  • Working in partnership to achieve maximum benefit to Thurrock from the many sources of funding - both mainstream and external - available.
  • Promoting the engagement of all Thurrock's people and communities in decisions about the future of the borough whilst ensuring that the views of traditionally under represented groups are obtained.
  • Undertaking an ambassadorial role for the borough and promoting the image of Thurrock outside its boundaries.
