Bede's History of the English Church

St Cedd was sent from Northumbria to convert the East Saxons to Christianity. The Venerable Bede mentions that Cedd established missionary churches in Ithancestir and Tilaburg on the bank of the Thames. The exact site of the church in Tilbury is not known - it could be either St Catherine's, East Tilbury or St James', West Tilbury.
